Minneapolis rockers Soul Asylum are back with a brand new album (the band’s first since 1998) called The Silver Lining. Soul Asylum climbed the ranks of rock and roll for nearly a decade before cracking commercial success. In the early 90’s, the public embraced Soul Asylum’s unique blend of underground alternative rock and snatched up copies of their album Grave Dancers Union in the process. A few of Soul Asylum’s biggest hits include “Somebody to Shove,” “Misery,” “Runaway Train,” “Black Gold,” and “Just Like Anyone.” Lead singer, Dave Pirner released a solo album entitled Faces and Names in 2002.
The Gin Blossoms are also back on the scene with a long awaited new album Major Lodge Victory. The pride of Tempe, Arizona, Gin Blossoms have reunited and are bringing their music back to the masses. Gin Blossoms were formed in 1987, but didn’t gain mainstream notoriety until the release of their platinum album New Miserable Experience in 1992. Radio picked up on catchy tunes like “Hey Jealousy,” “Found About You,” and “Till I hear It From You” and soon the Gin Blossoms were riding a wave of success. In 1996, the album Congratulations I’m Sorry continued their success with songs like “Follow You Down” and “Day Job.”
